While the city's old unit takes 18 hours to treat sewage, the new ETE completes the job in one hour.
According to Lucas Arruda, superintendent of CASAN – the company that manages the plant, the technology used by FAST is innovative. The treatment is carried out with the help of microbubbles and the equipment allows the water to be completely separated from the sludge. After the process, the water is treated with chlorine before returning to the environment, and the sludge generated is digested and dehydrated to be disposed of in landfills.
The station began operating in recent days in Florianópolis to ensure the well-being of residents and tourists in the region. FAST will also continue training the team that carries out operations at the station, in order to ensure that the entire process is carried out with maximum efficiency.
