National production has been growing annually and the expectation for 2020 is that there will be even greater growth. Since there are few farmers working with the crop, there is a noticeable great investment opportunity, especially in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and the Serra da Mantiqueira (between São Paulo and Minas Gerais), which already account for the largest national production. As highlighted by Curtis Cord, president of the New York International Olive Oil Competition, “olive oil producing regions are changing around the world. Some traditional areas are struggling with climate change. Other parts of the New World, such as Brazil and Argentina, are receiving international recognition.”
