Transplantation of 50 Brazilian Pine seedlings is carried out by Fast in Canela

FAST, in yet another of its sanitation projects, was responsible for an activity with a major environmental impact.

At the new Santa Terezinha Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Canela-RS, the transplantation of 50 Brazilian pine seedlings took place on November 20th (Araucaria angustifolia).

The seedlings were growing in the area where the expansion works of this ETE will be carried out and were relocated to an area of the Canela National Forest (Flona). The Flona is a Federal Conservation Unit under the management of the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio) and these araucaria seedlings will help to recover an area where there was vegetation management, in addition, the native species is threatened with extinction.

The transplant was the responsibility of the Environmental Engineer at FAST and authorized by FEPAM, the environmental agency of the state of Rio Grande do Sul where the work will be implemented.
